I learned many things regarding the conflicts that drive the plot, about the characters and the themes of the play after my first solo reading. I am learning about the conflicts that drive the plot a lot from the descriptions of what the characters are doing: what their facial expression is, how the stand up or walk or the descriptions of their feelings. I think this is so because it is not as direct as the conversation itself and it also gives away hints of things that would happen afterwards. A lot of things that I learned about the characters also came from the descriptions but also from the way the characters speak and the conversations they have. The descriptions about the way they look did not help a lot as they were generally vague, since they would change depending on the person that played the character in the play. I learned about the themes in the play mostly in the end of act 3, because during most of the play the story focused more on the facts and how the characters interacted, while the end focused on the effects of all the actions done by the characters. The solo reading helps to understand mostly the themes and the overall feel and plot of the play. Other aspects like the characters and he setting are not best understood, at least for me, by a solo reading because the descriptions are not specific enough to create a full setting in my mind since you are supposed to have a physical setting and actual people giving the lines.
