Today in a class activity we were asked to collaborate to make a 3 to 4 minute presentation about how does music affect the language we speak. One of the strategies we used was to write down our ideas into a piece of paper and then assign each section or task for everyone to speak or do. All of us collaborated a little but the presentation was mainly dominated by 1 or 2 girls, not because we did not want to collaborate but because they just sort of took the paper and started writing their ideas and telling the other group members what to do and we just went with it because there wasn't time to complain and it wouldn't make a huge difference. The main thing that wouldn't have been the same is some parts which I though weren't necessary. I think that I was able to express myself well, but because of some planning issues I couldn't speak my part and the idea which I gave was not very well represented in my opinion. I think my group collaborated o.k., but could have collaborated much better by been better organized and listening more to everyone instead of just one person. If we were to do the activity again I think I would try to get my ideas more properly represented by making sure I expressed them well and made sure they understood what I meant.
